Have a beautiful summer. Thank you for your love and healing light. Xn

Yin Yoga is a style of yoga that requires a deep slowing down and induces states of relaxation and acceptance. We will hold the postures longer and allow our bodies to soften over time. We will dive into states of meditation and receptivity. There is an art to letting go and yin yoga teaches us how to truly surrender to what is in a healthy and healing way. In yin yoga you give yourself time for self-reflection and will remember the importance of slowing down and listening closely to your own body and soul. This teacher training includes teaching methodology, sequencing, practice and lecture.

Holding stretches for long periods of time and other techniques closely related to Yin Yoga has been practised for centuries in China and Taiwan as part of the Daoist Yoga, which is sometimes known as Dao yin. Taoist priests taught this knowledge, along with breathing techniques, to Kung Fu practitioners beginning 2000 years ago. Yin Yoga as we know it today was founded in the 1970s by martial arts expert and Taoist yoga teacher Paulie Zink. Yin style yoga has become popular due in large part to the widespread teaching activities of Yin Yoga teachers and developers Paul Grilley, Sarah Powers and Bernie Clark.

Among the many benefits of a regular practice, yin yoga increases circulation and improves flexibility, calms and balances the mind and body, stress and anxiety reduction, fascial release, deeper relaxation and inner reflection, greater joint mobility, and meridian stimulation brings balance to the organs.

We will explore different ways to integrate mindfulness into Yin asanas, learn how to create a Yin environment for yourself and students and how to effectively teach to a variety of students. You will discover Yin teaching methodology including the art of assisting in a Yin class where you may be dealing with beginning and seasoned students with a range of health concerns such as physical and psychological stress and trauma

Explore many ways to sequence a Yin practice. You will also understand the role of a yin teacher, teaching philosophy, facilitation skills, use of touch, voice, personal practice, ethics and earn the basics neurophysiology of stress, pain and trauma, and how to work with students going through difficult times. You will learn the difference between Yin and Yang styles of Yoga and the Yin approach and how to balance the need for both. See anatomy from the perspective of joints and fascia, including plasticity vs. elasticity of tissues; the importance of skeletal variation and natural range of motion; proportion and orientation; and the difference between compression and tension.
